Error sending to server when importing requirements with MSO2RQM Importer

Technote (troubleshooting)

When importing requirements with the MSO2RQM Import Utility into IBM Rational Quality Manager 3.0.1, the "Error sending to server ID.01 of type requirement" error occurs.

Error is thrown similar to screenshot below:

There will also be a 500 Internal Server Error displayed in the mso2rqm.log file.

If your configuration file is mapped correctly, it is possible that Rational Quality Manager is attempting to login to IBM Rational Requirements Composer with invalid credentials. When using the Rational Quality Manager REST API, the API pulls its Rational Requirements Composer login credentials from a field which can be modified with Advanced Properties. By default, this property is set to use the ADMIN/ADMIN credentials. That is a user typically disabled after initially configuring Rational Quality Manager.

Resolving the problem

One potential solution for this issue is to modify the login properties configured in the package

To do this, follow the steps below:

  1. Open a browser. Login to the admin console of your Rational Quality Manager server.
    • For example, https://myServer:9443/qm/admin

  2. Click the Application tab. Click Advanced Properties.

  3. Find the package This should be near the bottom of the page.

  4. Modify the Requirements Composer User Name field to be a valid Rational Requirements Composer user who has permission to create and modify requirements.

  5. Modify the Requirements Composer Password field to be the password of the user you entered in the previous step.

  6. Save the changes.

  7. Rerun the Export to Repository operation from either Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Word to verify this resolved the issue.
