DOORS-Change OSLC integration and Firefox

Question & Answer

Question

Can the DOORS-Change OSLC integration be used with Firefox? If a client in IBM Rational Change has an RCR assigned to a formal module in DOORS, and the integration is active, there will be a link that opens the associated formal module in DOORS. This link works as expected when the default browser is Internet Explorer but what if the default browser is another browser such as Firefox?

Cause

If a client in Rational Change has an RCR assigned to a formal module in DOORS, and the integration is active, there will be a link that opens the associated formal module in DOORS.
If Firefox is set as the default browser, this link opens an empty HTML page.
If Internet Explorer is set as the default browser, the link works as expected.
This is because the integration and specifically the abovementioned link uses ActiveX and so it will only work in Internet Explorer where ActiveX is enabled.

Answer

The DOORS - Change OSLC integration cannot be used with Firefox as the default browser. The client must use Internet Explorer with ActiveX enabled
