A build in RAD 7.5.x results in an Out of Memory error

Problem

Attempts to perform a application build in IBM Rational Application Developer for WebSphere Software version 7.5.x, results in the error "OutOfMemory".

Cause

The Link Indexer is holding onto workspace references.

Resolving The Problem

These defects are fixed as of http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg24027897"> Rational Application Developer for WebSphere Software, version 7.5.5.2 and later.


WORKAROUND:

  1. Click Windows > Preferences > Web > Links within RAD workspace

  2. Click Re-index

This action will drop the memory consumption significantly and allocate taken memory back to the system. It should be noted that this action must be performed for each application build.
