Error: Cannot connect to the IBM Rational Change server when creating a configuration template

Question & Answer

Question

Copying the Rational DOORS/Rational Change integration to a local client machine causes the following error when trying to create/modify a configuration template: "Cannot connect to Rational Change server".

Cause

Simply copying the Rational DOORS/Rational Change integration from one client machine to another will not work as there are 2 files that need to be registered.

Answer

Copying the Rational DOORS / Rational Change integration from one client machine to another is not a supported method of installing the integration.

If the following message occurs when attempting to create a configuration template:

"Cannot connect to Rational Change server"

The issue is due to 2 files not being registered. During the installation of the integration, the files are automatically registered, however copying the file structure over will not.
  • regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\cslib.dll
  • regsvr32 <DOORS_HOME>\lib\dxl\addins\synergy\ecps2csApi

To correct this issue, please install the integration using the installation executable.
