Troubleshooting
Problem
This technote explains an issue that occurs when connecting to IBM Rational ClearQuest Web. A "Restricted Mode" message appears. This happens, even though licenses are available and served correctly without a problem.
Cause
With fixes introduced by version 7.0.1.1, the ClearQuest Web application uses a login concatenated with the connection name to fetch a license key from the FlexLM server. Other ClearQuest client applications are using only the login.
Each user login is then defined only once in the Rational optional FlexLm file (rational.opt) when, for example, reserving licenses on the basis of the login with the current behavior of the FLExLM.
Resolving The Problem
WORKAROUND
- You can deactivate the Rational.opt file if you do not want to control license usage.
- It is necessary for each user to define his login at least twice in the Rational.opt file in the FlexLm server in order to have access to both ClearQuest Web and the others ClearQuest clients. See this example:
- INCLUDE ClearQuest USER admin
INCLUDE ClearQuest USER admin#CQConnection
