Resolving The Problem

Here is the procedure to resolve the error:

Check if the service entry in the registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\<SvcName>) has a pre-populated Enum subkey. If so, delete the Enum subkey so that PnP will be the one who creates it and associates it with a device under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\LEGACY_<SVCNAME>.

For example:

  1. Logon to Content Engine Server
  2. Stop the Service "Process Services Manager"
  3. Open registry and browse to "HKLM\system\currentcontrolset\services\vwservices"
  4. Delete "Enum" subkey
  5. Restart the "Process Services Manager"
  6. The "Enum" subkey should be regenerated
