Error: "Insufficient memory - index pool is full" results in server hang

Technote (troubleshooting)


The Lotus Domino server hangs after receiving an "Insufficient memory - Index pool is full" error message in the console. The BLK_NIF_POOL block grows over time and when it exceeds 115MB (number of members), it start throwing the error message. After that, the client server is inaccessible.

Resolving the problem

This issue was already reported to Quality Engineering as SPR# WMUY6WCT3X that referred to a memory leak in the SHRMEM BLK_NIF_POOL - NIF global pool. This was fixed in the Lotus Notes/Domino 7.0.3 and 8.0 releases.

Product Development has released a hotfix to address this issue. If you experience this situation, contact Product Support to see if the hotfix applies to your particular configuration.
