Troubleshooting
Problem
When a Microsoft Excel CSV sheet (with multiple enumerated values separated by a semi-colon) is imported to Rational DOORS; the multiple enumerated values are treated as a single string.
Symptom
The multiple enumerated values are displayed in a single string after the import
Cause
Rational DOORS fails to detect the multiple enumerated values in Microsoft Excel CSV during the import.
Environment
Microsoft Windows, Rational DOORS - All Versions, Microsoft Office - All Versions
Resolving The Problem
In order to overcome this, please separate the multiple enumerated values in the Microsoft Excel CSV (comma separated value) sheet and then make the necessary setting changes in Rational DOORS as described below so that Rational DOORS recognizes them as an enumerated Multi-valued attribute.
You can separate these values in the Microsoft Excel CSV sheet by using the key combinations ALT+ENTER to fill multiple values in a single cell and then save the spreadsheet in CSV format.
Next, make the necessary settings changes in Rational DOORS prior to the import. For that follow the steps below:
1. Create an attribute of Type "Enumerations" in Rational DOORS.
2. Provide the same values which are there in the Microsoft Excel CSV spreadsheet.
3. While, creating an attribute on the basis of Type "Enumeration", select the option of "Multi-valued".
4. Now try importing the Microsoft Excel CSV spreadsheet.
Please find attached the sample CSV file and screenshots for reference in the attachments.zip file below.
