In a Notes multi-user install on Citrix, Notes uninstall may not remove all needed registry settings

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem

In a Notes multi-user install on Citrix, installed using custom data directory specification, Notes uninstall may not remove all needed registry settings.

For example, for either of the following Notes install command line statements, applicable registry settings were not removed during Notes uninstall:

setup.exe /v"SETMULTIUSER=1 CITRIX=1 MULTIUSERBASEDIR=C:\temp\!username! MULTIUSERCOMMONDIR=C:\Notes\Common"

setup.exe /v"SETMULTIUSER=1 CITRIX=1 MULTIUSERBASEDIR=W:\ MULTIUSERCOMMONDIR=C:\Notes\Common"

The following registries, which should be removed during Notes uninstall, are not removed:

  • HKLM\Software\Lotus\Notes\8.0\CommonDataPath
  • HKLM\Software\Lotus\Notes\8.0\DataPath
  • HKLM\Software\Lotus\Notes\8.0\Multiuser

In addition, settings for Lotus/Notes in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER registry were left, preventing users from later running a Notes single user install after uninstalling their Notes multi-user installation.

Note: If a NOTES.INI file does not exist in the Notes install directory, one is created as part of the uninstall process.

Resolving the problem

Manually remove the registry settings specified in the Problem statement above.
