Archive Criteria does not Truncate Documents with MIME content
In the IBM Lotus Domino criteria for archiving, to the question, "How do you want to clean up documents?", you select "Reduce the size of documents" and "Remove attachments, leave summary".
If you archive a document sent from an external Internet address, the document is still archived but its size is not reduced and it still contains attachments.
Some documents are left in the mail database with the Torn Page icon, indicating that they are truncated, with the subject line. Other documents are left as full documents. However, all documents do get archived to the archive database.
This situation occurs because MIME documents cannot be truncated.
Resolving the problem
This issue was reported to Quality Engineering as SPR# ADEE7JXFXS and determined to be a software limitation.
One possible workaround is to add another archive criteria to remove the documents and archive them to the archive db. Have the user run the first archive criteria to truncate documents that do not have MIME content. The user can then select any documents that do not have the torn page icon and run the second criteria to archive and remove them.
