IBM Support

DMS-E-DBACCESS, It was not possible to access the 'DB2P' database

Troubleshooting

Problem

Error number -49: DMS-E-DBACCESS, It was not possible to access the 'DB2P' database. [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified when changing from ODBC to a Native connection.

Resolving The Problem

1. Delete the database line for ODBC connection under [Databases] in the COGNOS.ini file on the PC with the error. The database line will still have the connection which calls for ODBC database support.
2. Reconnect to a catalog using the native connection to the database. The database line in the COGNOS.ini file now has 'Native connection' which calls for DB2 database support.
