(TR1901) The lowest level partitions must span full breadth

Resolving The Problem

Under Processing in the Properties tab of the cube, set partitioning to default(auto-partition) if it isn't. Look at the log file of the attempted cube build and note the number of consolidated records to add to the cube. Under the Auto-Partiton tab, slide the slider bar until the Desired partition size value exceeds the number of consolidated records. The cube will now build.

With the custom views applied, the partition must span all the custom views and if it cannot do so, the above error is returned. By creating a partition that includes all consolidated records, the 'full breadth' of the dimension with custom views is in one partition ensuring a successful cube build.

Solution:

Transformer is returning this error because it is impossible to insert all of the lowest level partitions within the same dimension based on the current partitioning strategy. The model has been manually partitioned and therefore increasing the Desired Partition Size ( PowerCube properties ) has no effect.

The resolution is to remove the manual partition and let Transformer use its Auto-Partition algorithm. To do this, double click on the level or levels in the dimension map, select the general tab, and change the partition number to zero. The cube will build after the changes have been made.

Solution:

Analyzing the log file will tell you whether the number of records and categories are decreasing from pass to pass. If the number of records do not decrease on the last pass, try reducing the maximum number of passes by one to eliminate the last pass or increase the desired partition size.
