NAS Node File Level Restore Configuration with WebClient
This document provides steps on how to set up the Tivoli Storage Manager Web Client to be used for NAS node file level restore
Resolving the problem
Follow the steps below.
1: Download and install a Windows Tivoli Storage Manager Client using the below ftp link :
- Only install the client package, do not install any service at this point.
- If a Tivoli Storage Manager Client is already installed and a Web client acceptor service (dsmcad) is already running, please stop and uninstall the current acceptor service.
2: Modify the dsm.opt file to include the following information:
Domain.nas /fs1 /fs2
- desktopname corresponds to the local client node name
- NAS1 corresponds to the the nasnode name to be restored
(NAS1 should show in Tivoli Storage Manager server administrative command Q NODE T=NAS output)
- /fs1 /fs2 are the filespace names for node NAS1
( /fs1 /fs2 should show in Tivoli Storage Manager server administrative command Q FILESPACE NAS1 output)
- TCPserveraddress / TCPport
IP and TCPport of the Tivoli Storage Manager server to which the NAS1 backed up to.
(This information can be obtained via Tivoli Storage Manager server administrative command Q OPTION output)
3: On the Tivoli Storage Manager server, run the following administrative command:
GRANT AUTHORITY desktopname CLASS=NODE AUTHORITY=OWNER NODE=desktopname,nas1
Note : The "desktopname" needs to be registered on the server.
4: Install the Web client (acceptor) service
During Tivoli Storage Manager authentication, use the desktopname as the Tivoli Storage Manager node name and provide the Tivoli Storage Manager node desktopname's password :
Note: Please refer to the Tivoli Storage Manager Client manual on details about how to install the Tivoli Storage Manager Web client service.
5: After installing and starting the Web client service, access the node desktopname's Web client with the following URL :
Note: Please refer to the Client manual and Client Readme file on the Browser /Java requirements for the TSM Web client.
6: Click restore. At the TSM login window, login as :
User id : desktopname
password: desktopname's password.
After clicking on Login, the "loading toc" message will be issued.
After the toc loading finishes, the NAS1 node and NAS1 directory structure will be displayed after expanding the "File Level" section in the restore window.
Note: During the Web client start up, the default toc loaded is a merged toc from the most recent differential and the most recent full ndmp backup. For information on how to load the correct toc image, please refer to support document 1254352 available at below URL :
