What is the maximum input file and document size that Content Manager OnDemand supports?
Answer
When an input file is indexed, it is usually broken up into smaller documents that are concatenated together in an .out file. Each document is associated with its own set of indexes that are stored in the database.
The limit on the input file size is determined by the file system of the operating system.
A single document (including large objects) cannot be larger than 2 GB. This is the maximum size of the document that will be stored on the storage media, not the maximum size of the input file. This maximum applies to all data types. Documents larger than 2 GB have not been tested with all of the Content Manager OnDemand components and are not guaranteed to work.
The .out file can be as large as the file system, memory, and operating system permit.
As a best practice, a single document (which is not a large object document) should not be larger than 50 MB.
Although there is no maximum size for a PDF input file, it is recommended that the size of a PDF input file not exceed 500 MB, because performance can decrease as the input file size increases.
