The IBM Rational ClearCase Command Line Logical Model Merge
exits prematurely, before all the extraneous checkouts
performed during the merge are undone. The checkouts are
being undone in a background job, and the merge must not
complete until this job is done.

Problem conclusion

Fixed in ClearCase 8.0.0.9 and 8.0.1.2.
