Error description

  • Recording on HTTP traffic does NOT handle Content-Length: 0
    correctly.

    The symptom is:
    When recording a HTTP reply message which has a 302 response
    code and Content-Length in HTTP response header is 0, in the 302
    response message body which should be empty, it has a whole
    response message which has a set of HTTP response head and
    message body, but no independent response answered to the
    redirected request after 302 response. The response for the
    redirected request is exactly in the 302 response message body.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
    * If a user is recording HTTP traffic in Rational Integration *
    * Tester's Recording Studio perspective using pCap (packet *
    * capture, as opposed to the HTTP proxy recording method) and *
    * a reply of Content-Length 0 is recorded then subsequent      *
    * recorded messages are corrupted. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    * Users can switch to HTTP proxy recording (this requires *
    * deployment of the Rational Integration Tester proxy from the *
    * Platform Pack) or upgrade to version 8.5.0.1 of Rational *
    * Integration Tester.                                          *
    ****************************************************************

Problem conclusion

  • This problem has been resolved in Rational Integration Tester
    8.5.0.1. The problem was caused by an assumption that a
    response length would always be greater than zero.
