APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Real time COBOL editor wrongly gives a syntax error on
    COPY REPLACING when the replacement string contains an equal
    sign.
    COPY C3MDCLQ REPLACING ==:FILEID:==
     BY ZCOMM-RPT
     ==DCLMSG== BY
     =='ZCOMM-RPT-FILE FILE I/O ERROR,STATUS ='==.
    then the following error popup is seen.
    ''==. ' is invalid
    '=='ZCOMM-RPT-FILE FILE I/O ERROR,STATUS =' is invalid.
    There is nothing wrong with the above. No error should be seen.

Local fix

  • Remove the equal sign from the replacement string.

Problem summary

  • The parser is not handling the presence of an '=' character
    within the pseudo text.

Problem conclusion

Temporary fix
