Error description
Thread pools configured as "growable" only log a message the first time the pool increases. Improved logging could warn when pools are potentially growing out of control
Local fix
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server with thread pools defined as * * "growable" * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Thread pools defined as "growable" do * * not alert you of excessive growth. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** WebSphere Application Server thread pools can be defined as "growable", which allows them to grow in size unbounded. While the runtime alerts you the first time a growable thread pool rises above its maximum size, it does not provide any additional alerts in the event of large growth.
Problem conclusion
Logging was added for growth to multiples of the pool's original maximum size - for example, a growable pool configured with maximum size 10 would produce an informational message when it reaches size 20, 30, and so on. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 7.0.0.29, 8.0.0.7, and 8.5.5.0.
