PM69320: RDz: LRECL of sequential dataset incorrect in editor after deletion and recreation with new LRECL outside RDz

APAR status

Error description

• LRECL of sequential dataset is incorrect in the LPLEX editor
  after deletion and recreation with new LRECL outside RDz
  
  Recreation Steps:
  1) From ISPF, create a sequential dataset and keep the default
  (FB, LRECL = 30)
  2) From ISPF, edit the dataset and fill one record with
    1       10        20        30
    then save the file (F3)
  3) From RDz, open file for editing. The record is fully
  displayed and note the delimiter bar is after col 30
  4) From ISPF delete the sequential dataset, then create a new
  one with the same name as the previous dataset and the same
  attributes.
  5) From ISPF, edit the dataset and fill one record with
      1       10        20        30        40
     then save the file (F3)
  6) From RDz, open the file for editing. The delimiter is still
  in col 30 although the LRECL in the Properties view indicates
  40.
  7) From RDz, if you attempt to insert a new record from column
  31 it display the error message, 'one or more line exceeds the
  text limits. truncation will occur when the file is saved'
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• In this case of the scenario, when the LPEX editor accessed the
  remote resource model, it still keeps obsolete data set
  attributes.
  

Problem conclusion

• Remote resource API was fixed to update the data set attributes
  appropriately.
  
  The problem listed in this APAR has been resolved with
  IBM Rational Developer for System z V8.0.3.4 Fix Pack which
  is available from the Recommended Fixes support download page:
