  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When using Top Secret on z/OS and it is not possible to purge or
    cancel jobs from Rational Developer for System z because it
    assumes it is an authorization failure.

    The default action for JES operator commands and resources may
    be set to permit. This means the resource is not protected and
    when JMON does a ESM check, it gets a RC=4 which is a warning
    and not an error but JMON treats this as an authorization
    failure.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    - JMON calls RACROUTE to check JESSPOOL class, to make sure the
    job itself is not protected. This check passes.
    - JMON attempts to activate the EMCS console via MCSOPER macro.
    This succeeds as well.
    - JMON issues the operator command (MGCRE macro). JES (not JMON)
    checks the OPERCMDS class for JES%.** but does not find a
    matching profile, so the command fails to be issued.

Problem conclusion

  • New directive introduced for the FEJJCNFG configuration file
    (used by JMON):

    LIMIT_CONSOLE={LIMITED | NOLIMIT}

      When LIMIT_CONSOLE=NOLIMIT, JMON sets the command authority
      for the console; this authority will be used by JES if it
      can't find a matching security profile.

      LIMIT_CONSOLE=LIMITED is the default.
