PM55394: CANNOT SPECIFY AN ENVIRONMENT VARIABLE THAT CONTAINS A DOLLAR SIGN IN THE VALUE STRING

Error description

In the admin console, you can define an environment variable
that contains a dollar sign ( $ ) in the value string.  But, the
environment variable is not added to the was.env file.

*                      with a value that contains a literal    *
*                      dollar sign, the variable/value do      *
*                      not show up in the was.env file.        *

* RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

If the value of a variable contained a literal $, the
transformer code was not keeping the resulting literal value.
Instead, it was not including that variable/value in the
resulting was.env file.

Problem conclusion

The transformer code was modified to keep the resulting
literal value which ends up in the was.env file.

APAR PM55394 is currently targeted for inclusion in
Fix Packs 7.0.0.23 and 8.0.0.4 of WebSphere Application
Server.
