Error description

  • PROBLEM DEFINITION:
RST: Disconnect between the values in the WSDL.

    CLIENT BUSINESS IMPACT:
The problem is mainly causing confusion with the Test
Developers, and may potentially lead to errors caused by this
    confusion.
Customer is heavily doing SOA testing now, and would like to see
this resolved, although the issue is not directly stopping them.

    PRODUCTS AND VERSIONS:
    RST 8.2.0.4

PROBLEM SPEC (WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, EXTENT):
Customer is using RST 8.2.0.4 and is experiencing an issue with
some WSDL interpretation. Some of the WSDLs they are importing
are showing a disconnect between the values in the WSDL and the
Operation that is identified. It is NOT a problem with the WSDL,
which they have validated, and actually see different behavior
    in different RST Workspaces.

    DISTINCTIONS AND CHANGES:
This is the same customer who reported wsdl import issue (esc
    RATLC02490994)

IN-HOUSE REPRODUCTION STATUS OR REMOTE SESSION:
Customer is available for remote session.

    POTENTIAL SOLUTION TESTED:
RST seems so occasionally identify operation names
    inconsistently.

From the first workspace you can see the update operation is
    correct, but
the delete is also showing as update:

(Embedded image moved to file: pic22915.jpg)
(Embedded image moved to file: pic49807.jpg)

In a second workspace, setup exactly the same as the first, the
    delete is
    now correct:

(Embedded image moved to file: pic56157.jpg)

I have included both workspaces so you can see for yourself that
    the
problem spreads across multiple operation, and in a very
    inconsistent
    manner.

There seems to be no way to consistently create errors, as the
    errors show
    up in different places.

    RELEVANT DATA/ATTACHMENTS:
See the attached document for details.
(See attached file: WsdlTest07a.zip)(See attached file:
    WsdlTest08a.zip)

WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FROM ENGINEERING:
Need help in identifying what could be cauing the inconsistency.

WSDL port data contains ID should be unique. This ID was
based on time (milliseconds) and in some situations it
occurs that two WSDL ports share the same ID.

Problem conclusion

  • A new algorithm to compute this ID has been implemented that
ensures that this ID is unique.
