Error description

  • IBM Rational ClearCase mntrpc_server does not correctly handle
user elevation and demotion when checking VOB storage prior to
    mount.

    ClearCase 7.x

    ALL UNIX

    Problem Statement:
root_squash and tightened security on VOB storage (770)
force a last-ditch effort validation process to verify that the
VOB storage exists prior to mounting the VOB. The mntrpc_server
attempts to use the VOB Owner to verify the storage and causes
    the following:

    bash? cleartool mount /vob/test
    Mounting MVFS filesystem /vob/test.
    mkdir: '/vob/test': Permission denied
mount: Mount point /vob/test does not exist.

Workaround: Creating the mount over point will temporarily
work-around the issue, especially if the VOB is public
