APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Under certain circumstances (e.g. when fine grained admin
security is enabled), permission check on mbean calls,
including operations and attributes, for user-defined standard
or dynamic mbeans, may strays into a path where an NPE is
triggered, leading the permission check to fail even when the
    permission should be granted.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
The NPE is triggered because a section of code depends on an
mbean descriptor retrieved from the mbean, yet for custom
standard or dynamic mbeans, the descriptor is not available.

Problem conclusion

  • The fix to the problem is to guard against the null
descriptor so that the mbeans which don't possess such a
descriptor will bypass the said code section above and
instead get their permission evaluated in the next code section.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix pack 6.1.0.39, 7.0.0.19 and 8.0.0.1. Please refer to the
