PM35555: A PERSISTENT IOEXCEPTION ACCESSING THE STORE FILE DOES NOT CAUSE THE MESSAGING ENGINE TO STOP

Error description

On certain file systems, the file handle used to access the
Messaging Engine store file can be asynchronously closed,
resulting in a persistent IOException when the messaging
engine tries to access the file.  The messaging engine does
not stop when this happens, and so never recovers until a
manual restart.  While the problem is happening, no persistent
messaging can be performed.

If the messaging engine store file handle is asynchronously
closed, an IOException is thrown whenever the messaging engine
attempts to access this file.  The messaging engine does not
recover from this problem and consequently no persistent
messaging can be performed.  A manual restart is required.

Problem conclusion

This APAR fixes the problem by ensuring that any persistent
IOException (or an IOException at a point when the messaging
engine must restart in order to recover) causes the messaging
engine to restart.  Recovery from this problem follows
messaging engine restart.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix pack 6.1.0.41, 7.0.0.19, and 8.0.0.1.  Please refer to the
