Error description

  • Contrary to the impression given in the Help information, in
DOORS RIF all views to which the user performing an export has
read access seem to be exported in the RIF package and are
reproduced in the imported modules. The Help refers to a single
view, the one defining the export object set, but gives no clue
that all other readable views are exported too. However this is
not a problem of the Help content but of DOORS RIF itself. If
more than one view is exported then the set should be easily
    definable.

The original specification for RIF states that a single view
will determine what data in a module will be included in the RIF
package. The View Definitions which the user performing the
export has read access to, and where the default access is at
least Read, will be included in the exported RIF package.

At the least there is a documentation issue here but the user
may have some valid points and I feel it would be useful for
Development to be aware of them.

    To Reproduce
    - create a RIF definition on a module which contains many views
    (public, private, custom access)
    - specify the data set to be exported to RIF to be based on a
    particular view
    - import to a different database. Note that all the views the
user who exported it had access to are still populated as part
    of the 'away' module

The documentation seems to imply that only one view will be
exported. Step 11 of 'Creating a RIF definition'.

'Select the view that displays the data that you want to export.

If you want to include only the data in a specific view of the
module, select Include data in view, and then select a view from
    the drop-down list. '
