APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
For a bus destination, hosted on a WebSphere MQ Server bus member, once max concurrency is reached, messages are no longer consumed.
Local fix
If the MDB uses transactional messages this problem will not occur
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of the default messaging provider * * for IBM WebSphere Application Server * * Version 7.0, with WebSphere MQ server * * members of a Service Integration Bus * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: An MDB consuming from a WebSphere MQ * * Server bus member queue stops * * receiving messages when it reaches * * maximum concurrency * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When the maximum concurrency is reached for an MDB, no more messages are received even though the number of messages being processed falls below the maximum concurrency level. When the Resource Adapter connected to the messaging engine (that is acting as a proxy for the WebSphere MQ queue) reaches maximum concurrency, the consumer suppling messages to the MDB is correctly suspended. When the number of in-flight messages drops below the maximum concurrency limit, the consumer should be resumed to enable messages to be passed to the MDB. However, a problem with the suspend/resume logic prevents the consumer from being resumed, so messages are never delivered.
Problem conclusion
The fix for this APAR corrects the problem with the suspend/resume logic, and allows the consumer to be resumed correct once the number of in-flight messages drops below the maximum concurrency limit. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 7.0.0.13.
