APAR status

  • Closed as documentation error.

Error description

  • When you set up a RIF definition with Locks for local data set t
o 'No locks', and then you tried to merge, the RIF definition al
ways maintained its status as Merge Required.

Local fix

  • If you need to merge, be sure to set appropriate locks in the
Home database for the items that will be modified in the Away
database and need to be merged back. Items that will be
modified in the Away database should be locked in the Home
database -- set 'Locks for local data' to the option that will
result in the kind of locking that you need instead of to 'No
    locks'.

Problem summary

  • DOORS/RIF: MERGE PROBLEMS WHEN 'LOCKS FOR LOCAL DATA' = 'NO
    LOCKS'

Problem conclusion

  • This defect was fixed in the DOORS 9.2.0.2 online help. In
order to do a merge, the appropriate locks need to be set in the
Home database. The documentation was updated accordingly.
Merge problems do not occur if the appropriate locks are set in
    the Home database.
