Error description

  • A particular JCL construct where a DISK GDG in the original
    JCL is overridden to be a tape GDG, and is followed in the
    JCL by another DISK GDG, appears to cause a problem such that
    the DISK GDG is not deleted by EQQCLEAN but is SIMULATED,
    which results in message:
    IEF344I jjjjjjjj ssssssss pppppppp ddddddd - ALLOCATION FAILED
    DUE TO DATA FACIL

    IGD17100I UNEXPECTED CATALOG ERROR FOR DATA SET
    ddd.ddd.ddddddd.dddddd.GnnnnV00
    RETURN CODE IS 8 REASON CODE IS 8 IGG0CLEH
    .
    Both the TAPE and DISK GDGs are allocated +1 in one step and
    then read in also as +1 in one or more subsequent steps.
    The JCL contains:
    //ssssssss.dsname1  DD DSN=&xxxxx..xxxxxxx.xxxxxx(&GDG),
    //         DISP=(,CATLG,DELETE),
    //         UNIT=(TAPE90,,DEFER),
    //         DCB=(GDG.MODEL,RECFM=VB,LRECL=678)

    A GDG dataset is not deleted by EQQCLEAN during the
    R&C function.

Problem conclusion

  • The problem is due to the message IGD108I
    (IGD108I PPY.RG2.WDD1301.F14014.G3474V00          CATALOGED,
     DDNAME=WDDWS01
     VOLUME SERIAL NUMBERS =
     429420)
    When the DS handles the part of the message related to the
    volume, the inddsn and indvol indexes address the next entry
    of the DSNtab and VOLTab so the entry related to the next
    dataset in the VOLTab is filled in with the information of
    the dataset related to the IGD108I message.
    Now the volume information is put in the correct entry.
