    TLOG#51227

    Version:
    ======
    DOORS 9.1
    Linux 4.0

    Description:
    =========
    The below DXL error is displayed when users try to insert new
    objects into a DOORS module.

    ?-R-E- DXL: ?config/menuFns.inc:272? creating object: Lock
    request timed out?
    Backtrace:
    ?config/menuFns.inc:288?
    ?config/menuFns.inc:281?
    ?config/menuFns.inc:288?
    ?config/menuFns.inc:281?

    Description:
    =============
    1. Error comes up if a User opens a Module, Inserts an Object,
    closes the module and then another user or the same user
    re-opens the module and tries to insert an Object.
    2.Lock can be seen in Manage Locks window, however trying to
    unlock gives an error (attached
    ?ScreenHunter_01_May._22_12.22.gif?).
    3. Restarting the server , removes all the locks however they
    get re-created when step 1 is repeated.
    4. Issue is not specific to a module or a User.
    5.DOORS Data directory is on the Local Hard disk of the Linux
    server.
    6. Ping times between server client negligible.
    7. Issue can also be seen if we try to create a new
    Project/Module/ Object.
    8. Since when the users have started facing this issue?
    'Difficult to answer. We recently fixed a problem with syncing
    to Quality Center, and the problem showed up, but our work
    process may have disguised the problem. We usually do not have
    two

    people working on (making inserts on) the same module,
    particularly not in the same day.The locks are cleared
    overnight. As the problem can be created by one
    person making an insert, and then another, within an unknown
    period of time, but less than one day, attempting to make
    another insert, this may
    have been active for quite a while.'

    9. File Descriptor Limits set to unlimited.
