Error description

  • Content Search Service didn't normalize the accented letters
properly by converting umlaute letter "ü" to "ue" instead of "u"
and that caused the exact searches by any keywords with and
without accented letters to be inconsistent.

Problem conclusion

  • This problem is fixed in 5.2.1.7-P8CSS-IF004 and 5.5.2.0-P8CSS
and higher. User will need to enable the new behavior by the
    following command:
    configTool set -system -enableAsciiFoldingFilter true

With the new behavior, CSS converts alphabetic, numeric, and
symbolic Unicode characters which are not in the first 127 ASCII
characters (the "Basic Latin" Unicode block) into their ASCII
equivalents, if one exists. Therefore, no matter user enters
umlaute letter "ü" or regular "u", the search result will be
    consistently the same.
