Error description

• In Rational Developer for z Systems (RDz) v9.5.1.6, in a COBOL
  source when the optional "IN" or "OF" of special register
  "LENGTH" is omitted, a real-time syntax error is issued. Here is
  an example of the LENGTH special register LENGTH statement where
  OF is omitted:
  
  MOVE LENGTH A TO B
  

Local fix

• Add "IN" or "OF" to  LENGTH special register statement
  

Problem summary

• The compiler considers IN/OF following LENGTH to be optional.
  

Problem conclusion

• IN/OF is now optional.
  
  The problem listed in this APAR has been resolved with
  IBM Rational Developer for z Systems V9.5.1.7 Fix Pack which
