Error description

  • ERROR DESCRIPTION:Ø
Upgrading to CICS 5.4 and when I run DFHCSDUP, some of my
programs are having their datalocation attribute changed. In
CICS 5.4, the default for datalocation is any.

The problem stems from if a program defined previously had
taken the default, the part of the CSD record which dealt with
datalocation would be x'00'. When this record was then read off
the CSD, the default value would be applied and so it would
have had a datalocation of below. Now at 5.4, these records are
taking the new default of any.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: After upgrading to CICS TS 5.4 *
    * applications may start failing with *
    * ASRA or AEZC abends. *
    ****************************************************************
Several default values have been changed in CICS TS 5.4 and
because of some CSD records that were written many years ago
when the default value was not saved to the CSD, these records
now pick up the new default value. This results in the
program datalocation being changed from below to any and the
transaction taskdataloc being changed from below to any. This
results in applications failing with ASRA or AEZC abends.
The same problem can also occur for transaction options, SPURGE
    and TPURGE.

Problem conclusion

  • CICS CSD record processing has been changed to revert these
default values to their original intended default values
when the records are displayed or installed.
