Error description

  • With IBM RDz 9.5.1 running on Windows 10, with certain source
files that include control characters, the data editor column
    alignment is skewed.
Even when a mono-spaced font is used, the alignment is not
    corrected.

The non-displayable characters are currently using U+25AD (white
rectangle character) instead of U+25A1(white square character)
    causing the slight misalignment.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • The font width of the character 'U+25AD' used for
non-displayable character in the z Systems Data Editor was not
monospaced in Windows 10 even when one of the monospaced fonts
    was specified.

Problem conclusion

  • The RDz client was fixed to use 'U+25A1' which was fixed-width
character in Windows 10 instead of 'U+25AD'.

The problem listed in this APAR has been resolved with
IBM Rational Developer for z Systems V9.5.1.6 Fix Pack which
