Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED:                                              *
    * All DB2 12 for z/OS LOAD utility users who                   *
    * want to create an inline image copy during *
    * LOAD RESUME YES SHRLEVEL NONE processing. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
    * LOAD RESUME YES SHRLEVEL NONE might *
    * place the table space or partition *
    * into COPY PENDING status, making the *
    * object unavailable.                                          *
    * This APAR provides the ability to *
    * specify COPYDDN and/or RECOVERYDDN to                        *
    * keep the object available when LOAD *
    * has finished.                                                *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    * Apply corrective PTF when available *
    ****************************************************************
    LOAD RESUME YES SHRLEVEL NONE leaves the object in COPY PENDING
    status after termination when LOAD runs without logging.
    COPY PENDING status is also set for a LOAD RESUME YES utility
    with the BACKOUT YES option when all loaded rows are backed
    out after an error has occurred.

Problem conclusion

Temporary fix

Comments

  • To avoid unavailability of the object, the LOAD syntax has
    been enhanced to allow specification of the COPYDDN and/or
    RECOVERYDDN option when RESUME YES is specified. A full image
    copy is taken at the end of LOAD processing, after potential
    BACKOUT processing.

    If BACKOUT processing is performed, an image copy will be
    created even though the utility terminates with RC8 (to
    indicate a failure that led to BACKOUT processing).

    PI81724 introduces the following changes to the LOAD utility
    documentation.

    The copy-spec can now be specified with RESUME YES either on
    the LOAD utility resume-spec or on the resume-spec of the
    INTO-TABLE-spec.

    When using the copy-spec on the resume-spec of the
    INTO-TABLE-spec one of the following options must be
    specified:
     - RESUME YES specified on the LOAD utility resume-spec
     - RESUME YES specified on the resume-spec of INTO-TABLE-spec
     - REPLACE specified on the resume-spec of INTO-TABLE-spec

    The copy-spec on the resume-spec of INTO-TABLE-spec can not
    be specified with a mixture of REPLACE and RESUME YES on the
    INTO-TABLE-spec.

    When the copy-spec is specified on the LOAD utility
    resume-spec when individual partitions are specified on the
    INTO-TABLE-spec for a partitioned table space, the resulting
    image copy will only contain pages for the specified
    partitions.
