In RDz v9.5.0 a compare with each other operation does not work if BIDI is enabled. Scenario: 1- Enable BIDI development on RDz preferences: Preferences > Bidirectional development: - check Bidirectional development capabilities - check Search and replace bidirectional text in local files - check Compare files containing bidirectional text 2- Connect to RDz server on z/OS 3- On CARMA Repositories view, search for elements 4- On Search Result view, select 2 elements, then right click and select Compare With > Each other What is expected: The Compare view should be displayed. What is observer: Nothing happens. Opening Error view or editing .log file shows the exception: "java.lang.ClassCastException: com.ibm.ca.endevor.ui.search.EndevorSearchElement incompatible with com.ibm.carma.model.CARMAMember" No problems if BIDI preferences are not checked.
After performing an Endevor Search, the user attempts to Compare two resulting elements with each other but the action results in an Exception entry in the Error Log.
Endevor Search elements have a different Java type than CARMA Repositories elements. The Compare action needed to be modified to handle both types of elements. The problem listed in this APAR has been resolved with IBM Rational Developer for z Systems V184.108.40.206 Fix Pack which is available from the Recommended Fixes support download page: http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=2294&uid=swg27006335
