Error description
IBM Explorer for z/OS Version 3.0.0.1 or Rational Developer for System z - RDz - v9.5.1 iFix2, a member already edited in ISPF can still be edited in RDz. Steps to reproduce: 1- in ISPF, user USERA edits member MY.PDS(MEMBR1) 2- in RDz, user USERA edits same member MY.PDS(MEMBR1) 3- in RDz, editor is not opened in readonly mode but in write mode: member can be modified and saved.
Local fix
there is no known workaround at this time.
Problem summary
A user may edit the same member from RDz and another client, such as ISPF, at the same time. In order to prevent a user from making divergent changes to the same member, the member lock should prevent this scenario.
Problem conclusion
A change was made allowing a user to edit a member that he/she already has the lock for. This turns out to be problemmatic because it leaves a user who is not careful vulnerable to making the member out-of-sync with another client. The problem listed in this APAR has been resolved with IBM Rational Developer for System z V9.5.1.1 ifix4 which is available from the Recommended Fixes support download page: http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=2294&uid=swg27006335
