Rational Developer for System z - RDz Attempts to use a Menu manager with variable substitution may fail if the menu manager is invoked from the editor and the file was opened from the zOS project view. When a user does a right-click in the editor that was opened from the z/OS Project view, the source object is of type LogicalValidResource. The Menu Manager JCL Variable Substitution code understands objects of type LZOSDataSetMember, LZOSDataSet, MVSFileResource and PhysicalValidResource, but not objects of type LogicalValidResource. Changes in APAR PI26565 were made to handle objects of type PhysicalValidResource. In this case, the object is of type LogicalValidResource and is not being handled correctly.
You have 3 choices that will work: Open file from Remote Systems View Use Menu Manager from Remote Systems View Use Menu Manager from zOS Projects view
Files opened in Editor via zOS Projects view fail to pass variables to Menu Manager
The editor files are of type LogicalValidResource, and those types were not being handled. The problem listed in this APAR has been resolved with IBM Rational Developer for z Systems V188.8.131.52 Fix Pack which is available from the Recommended Fixes support download page: http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=2294&uid=swg27006335
