Error description

  • Rational Developer for System z - RDz - v9.1.1

Remote file search may cause a high CPU or Java OutOfMemory
    error
when a user sets the search update frequency to the lowest.

This problem may occur when you set the Remote z/OS Search
    preferences
Result update frequency to the lowest.

    Moving the Window > Preferences > Remote systems > z/OS > Remote
    z/OS Search >
Result update frequency slider to the lowest may cause a loop on
    the zOS host.

Local fix

  • Do not set the Remote Search Result Frequency to the lowest.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: 01.Remote file search never ends unless *
    * a user cancel it, when a user sets *
    * the search update frequency to the *

    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
01.When a user sets the search update frequency to the lowest,
RDz 9.1 or higher server misunderstands the internal
frequency paramters and reponses back to client without
filling any search result. Then client tries to continue the
search. That causes the search message exchange between
       client server never to end.

Problem conclusion

  • 01.RDz server code is updated to understand the internal
frequency parameters passed from client correctly.
