Error description

  • Erroneous error markers appear in Rational Developer for System
    z realtime syntax checker when declaring 'PIC' as a variable
    name

Local fix

  • Even if legal in PLI, refrain from using reserved words as
    variable names.
    

Problem summary

  • The RDz PL/I parser incorrectly handles the PIC keyword when
    used as an identifier.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Modified the PL/I parser to correcly handle PIC when used as an
    identifier.
    
    The problem listed in this APAR has been resolved with
    IBM Rational Developer for System z V9.1.1.2 Fix Pack which
    is available from the Recommended Fixes support download page:
