Error description

  • Using the Remote Systems Explorer in Rational Developer for
    System z 9.1.1 to copy a sequential file from the z/OS host a PC
    the copy fails with the message
    RSEF1002 - Operation failed. File system input or output error.
    
    Message reported from file system: Local upload: file size
    mismatch for <host-filename>
    

Local fix

  • Make the workspace encoding to be the same as the local file
    system encoding.  A workspace encoding of UTF-8 will work in
    most cases.
    

Problem summary

  • Rather than comparing the source encoding to the system
    encoding, the local file subsystem should have been comparing
    the source encoding to the host encoding.
    
    This APAR is being closed FIN with concurrence from the
    submitting customer. This means that a fix to this APAR is
    expected to be delivered from IBM in a release which is being
    developed at the time that the APAR was closed. The latest
    release of the product to exit development at the time this
    APAR was closed was: Rational Developer for z Systems V9.5.
