Error description

  • Rational Developer for System z - RDz - v9.1.1
    
    Running Software Analyzer for PLI programs may result in a hang
    or java.stackoverflow exception.  If you look at the details of
    the software analyzer dialog it will show that the pli program
    is still on the first step, which is Launching delegate step.
    
    To end the software analysis it may be necessary to use the
    Windows Task manager to end RDz.
    

Local fix

Problem summary

  • Running Software Analyzer for certain PL/I programs may result
    in a hang or java.stackoverflow exception.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Modified the PL/I parser to fail faster in cases of failure and
    avoid certain expensive recovery processing to avoid stack
    overflows.
    
    The problem listed in this APAR has been resolved with
    IBM Rational Developer for System z V9.1.1.2 Fix Pack which
    is available from the Recommended Fixes support download page:
