Error description
Rational Developer for System z - RDz - v9.1.0 The "create paragraph" quick-fix in the COBOL Editor may fail with the Java StackOverflowError for COBOL programs having more than 8000 lines of code. It can take several minutes to display the quick fix options for some programs. Recreation scenario: Open a large COBOL program using the COBOL editor Add Perform XYZ Highlight Perform XYZ CTRL+1 or right click and select Quick fix Eventually this will give you the option to create a new paragraph for XYZ. When you select to create the new paragraph you may receive a StackException.
Local fix
You can modify the -Xss parameter in the eclipse.ini to alleviate this issue.
Problem summary
Based on how long the program and the complexity inside the source program some options to create new paragraph at different locations inside the source program cause issues.
Problem conclusion
Need to change the implementation to create new paragraph at the end of the source program. The problem listed in this APAR has been resolved with IBM Rational Developer for System z V9.1.1.2 Fix Pack which is available from the Recommended Fixes support download page: http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=2294&uid=swg27006335
