APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Rational Developer for System z v9.1.1 Program Control Flow can
  not be generated from debug view.
  
  Program Control Flow window shows the message "To display the
  program control flow, open the supported program file in the
  editor and select the Program Control Flow in the Show in
  sub-menu"
  If the Program Control Flow window is already populated then
  just a ping sound occurs and nothing changes in this Program
  Control Flow window.
  
  1) Open and submit the JCL to start a debug session
  2) Observe source listing appears in debug view
  3) Right click inside the debug view
  4) Select "Program Control Flow" in the "Show in" sub-menu
  5) Observe ping sound
  6) Observe in the Program Control Flow window the message "To
  display the program control flow, open the supported program
  file in the editor and select the Program Control Flow in the
  Show in sub-menu"

Problem summary

  USERS AFFECTED:  Rational Developer for System z version 9.1.1
  users who are remotely debugging COBOL or PL/I source.
  ****************************************************************
  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: While remotely debugging COBOL or PL/I
  source code the user decides to use the Show In > Program
  Control Flow menu action.  The view will show but the diagram is
  not be generated. This occurs when the action is chosen from the
  source that is being debugged.
  ****************************************************************
  

Problem conclusion

• The Program Control Flow view was not working correctly when
  opened from source that is being debugged.  To work around the
  issue the original source file can be opened using the COBOL
  editor or the PL/I editor, outside of the debugger.  From that
  edit session the Show In > Program Control Flow menu action can
  be used to successfully view the diagram.
  
  The view will be modified to fix the scenario described in the
  Problem Description to also allow the diagram to be viewed from
  the source that is being debugged.
  
  The problem listed in this APAR has been resolved with
  IBM Rational Developer for System z V9.1.1.3 Fix Pack which
  is available from the Recommended Fixes support download page:
