Error description
Rational Developer for System z (RDz) v9.1.1.1: User build transforms binary characters x'0D, x'15, x'25 when transferring files to the host. Steps to reproduce: 1- use SCM zImport --binary command to import a COBOL program to RTC which contains x'0D, x'15 and x'25' characters 2- load it to a local workspace using RTC Find and Load Eclipse projects 3- launch a user build which downloads the program to a MVS dataset 4- edit the program directly on the host with ISPF 5- binary characters like x'15 have been changed to x'25
Local fix
Problem summary
User Build was not checking the RTC metadata of the loaded file to see whether the file had been flagged as binary (meaning that the file had been imported into RTC as binary because it contained characters not supported by UTF-8).
Problem conclusion
User Build now checks the RTC metadata, and if the file is binary, modifies the file system mapping before uploading the file. Once the upload is complete, the mapping is restored to it's original value. The problem listed in this APAR has been resolved with IBM Rational Developer for System z V9.1.1.2 Fix Pack which is available from the Recommended Fixes support download page: http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=2294&uid=swg27006335
