Error description

  • Rational Developer for System z (RDz): RDz client 9.1 may not
performs code coverage on large test cases (200k executable
lines and above) in a reasonable amount of time causing the
user to cancel the job before it completes or possibly receive
    the following error:
CRRDG7006 Code coverage session ended before results could be
    produced.

Local fix

  • Use the code coverage option with Debug Tool on z/OS.

Problem summary

  • Code coverage sessions for programs with many executable lines
take an excessive amount of time to complete due to the amount
of communication relayed between the debug engine and RDz.

Problem conclusion

  • Enhanced code coverage protocol was introduced to reduce
    communication between engine and RDz.

Temporary fix
