Error description

• In RDz v9.1, when two remote files residing on z/OS Unix file
  system are opened in read-only mode and compared with each other
  using the compare editor, the editor allows the files to be
  changed.  The changed file cannot be saved, but has a side
  effect that the changes are saved in the local cache and this
  creates confusion.
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• The remote compare editor for USS files was not properly
  handling the case where a remote file was read-only.  The
  compare editor allows the user to modify the read-only file.
  Extra checking needs to be made to see if a file is read-only
  and, if so, the compare editor needs to mark the resource as
  read-only.
  
  This APAR is being closed FIN with concurrence from the
  submitting customer. This means that a fix to this APAR is
  expected to be delivered from IBM in a release which is being
  developed at the time that the APAR was closed. The latest
  release of the product to exit development at the time this
  APAR was closed was: Rational Developer for z Systems V9.5.
