  • Rational Developer for System z - RDz - V9.0.0
    
    When starting the RSE Daemon, if SSL is enbaled while using
    the setting -Djava.security.debug=all, a user will get the
    repeating error stack:
    
    Console Message:FEK009I RseDaemon is waiting for the server
    process tostart.
    
    Re-creation steps:
    
    Enable SSL and in the rsed.envvars, add the following line:
    
    _RSE_JAVAOPTS="$_RSE_JAVAOPTS -Djava.security.debug=all"
    
    then start the RSE daemon.
    The rseserver log will shows the following stack:
    
    RseDaemon:startProcesses(): send Query to the Serverprocess
    Console Message:FEK009I RseDaemon is waiting for the server
    process tostart.
    Console Message:FEK009I RseDaemon is waiting for the server
    process tostart.
    Console Message:FEK009I RseDaemon is waiting for the server
    process tostart.
    Console Message:FEK009I RseDaemon is waiting for the server
    process tostart.
    RseDaemon:Server Process Error
    
    RSED started task then terminates with CC 3840.
    RSE daemon ended -- return code 255 -- Wed Mar 5 08:29:00

    01.RseDamon process invoke ThreadPool process in the
       initialization steps. The standard output and error of the
       ThreadPool process is passed to RseDaemon process via unix
       socket to add timestamp information to each line.
    
       RseDaemon starts reading these output/errors after it
       receives a kind of startup message from the ThreadPool
       process via another communication path. When SSL is enabled,
       very large number of standard error lines are generated,
       they are not read by RseDaemon process, and the system
       buffer for the unix socket gets full because no one reads
       the socket data. When the system buffer becomes full, write
       operation of the ThreadPoolProcess is blocked and the code
       to send the startup message can not be executed.
    

Problem conclusion

  • 01.RseDaemon process is udpated to start reading standard output
       and errors before reading the startup message of the
       ThreadPool process.
