APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When using the Data Studio V4.1 and Rational Developer for
System z V9.1 integration feature, the "Run SQL" action is not
working for DECLARE CURSOR with cursor variable names containing
a dash. If the user highlights the entire EXEC SQL DECLARE
EMPLOYEE-LOOKUP CURSOR FOR SELECT statement and select Run SQL,
there is no response and no prompt to fill in the host variable.

Local fix

  • Until the RDz fix is available, the user can remove the dash
from cursor name for testing purposes and then reinsert the dash
    before saving the COBOL source.

Problem summary

  • Hyphen characters were not properly processed when performing
Run SQL from COBOL, PL/I or LPEX editors.

Problem conclusion

Temporary fix
