Error description

  • If user has "Remember Project Explorer State" enabled, DWA
remembers expanded state of sub-folders and modules even when
higher level folder is collapsed. In subsequent logins when user
chooses to expand higher level folder, it expands all
sub-folders and modules as it was when it was last collapsed.
Due to this granularity of information remembered by DWA,
depending on number of folders/modules expanded there may be an
    impact on performance.

    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Create a folder, Folder A
    2. Create subfolders upto level 5
    3. Create some modules in each level. Create a view and a
    baseline.
    4. Login to DWA as User A
    5. Ensure "Remember Project Explorer State" option is checked in
    Settings menu.
    6. Expand ALL folders and modules (baseline and view)
    7. Collapse Folder A
    8. Logout of DWA
    9. Login again to DWA as User A
    10. Expand Folder A

    Expected result:
Folder A should only show items directly under it
If any modules are present directly under Folder A, that module
    should be displayed as collapsed.

    Actual result:
Folder A shows the complete expanded state it was in, as in Step
    6
All modules that were in expanded state, remains the same way,
showing the list of baselines and views contained in them.

If the database contains large number of items, and if there are
a large number of folders/module expanded - the current behavior
results in excessive delays due to the granularity of expanded
    states remembered.

Local fix

  • Uncheck "Remember project explorer state" option from Settings
    menu.

    Client side fix.

Problem conclusion

  • Some changes were made to improve the tree startup performance.
Expansions for module and baseline nodes are no longer preserved
(treated as if no expanding has ever been performed).
Only visible expansions are now reproduced when logging in.
